... to the homepage of the Institute for Epidemiology and Prevention Research (BIPS).
Since January 2007 the BIPS has been an interdisciplinary research institute of the University of Bremen investigating the etiology and prevention of diseases. Our staff has expert knowledge to carry out studies from design via data assessment through to evaluation, to valuate the results and to recommend actions for health protection. This distinguishes us from other institutes.
Independent and free research practices are the underlying principles of our studies. This includes adherence to agreed guidelines of good scientific practice, specifically good (pharmaco)epidemiological practice (GEP (German version) and GPP), in our work as well as in publishing our research results.
The handling of conflicts of interest in our research is a particular challenge which we address in a policy statement.
As one of the oldest epidemiological institutes in Germany, we combine many years of experience with sound knowledge to ensure the high quality of our studies. Today BIPS is an associated member of the Leibniz Association. In the course of this transition the institute was outsourced from the University of Bremen by January 1st, 2012 and continues its work as "BIPS - Institute for Epidemiology and Prevention Research GmbH".
