The population is at the centre of our research. As an epidemiological research institute, our mission is to discover causes of health problems and to develop new concepts for disease prevention. Our goals are to disseminate the research results in society, to inform the general public about health risks, and to contribute to a healthy living environment.
Independent and free research practices are the underlying principles of our studies. This includes adherence to agreed guidelines of good scientific practice, specifically good (pharmaco)epidemiological practice (GEP and GPP), in our work as well as in publishing our research results. More....
As one of the oldest epidemiological institutes in Germany, we combine many years of experience with sound knowledge to ensure the high quality of our studies. The handling of conflicts of interest in our research is a particular challenge which we address in a policy statement.
Since January 2013 the BIPS is a research institute of the Leibniz Association.
